VOCABULARY 

CONGENIAL (adjective)
Definition:
friendly and pleasant.
Example:
Congenial surroundings creates harmonic community. 

PACIFY (verb)
Definition: 
a. to cause someone who is angry or upset to be calm and satisfied:
Example:
It was difficult for the police to pacify the angry crowd.
Definition:
b. to bring peace to a place or end war in a place:
Example:
A UN force has been sent in to try and pacify the area worst affected.

SOOTHE (verb)
Definition:
a. (ANGER) to make someone feel calm or less worried:
Example:
She is trying to soothe a crying baby.

Example:
I had a long, hot bath to soothe my aching muscles.

MOLLIFY (verb)

to make someone less angry or upset.
Example:
I tried to mollify her by giving her flowers.

Example:
I was so incensed by what he was saying I had to walk out.
